Grade One

(This was taken on the second day of school, Tucker shielding his eyes from the sun)

The first day of 1st grade for Carson. A little sad, I did get choked up, just a little. I know, you're shocked, but I did get a little emotional - for 5 seconds. Then I was fine. It was ok to have him gone most of the day, I just hope it was ok for him. He'll adjust. The traffic better adjust! Way too crowded! We had to park at the bottom of the hill and walk up to school to get him to class. Tucker wore his backpack this morning, so I think he is ready for school. He'll be starting preschool in a month. The pictures above were taken after school, cause before school I tried taking some and the battery was dead!

Fun in the Sun

Spider stories aside, here are the pictures from our trip to California. Above is Storyland, Fresno. It's been there since I was a kid and it shows......but it was a fun little adventure.

Pirate ship, which was in pretty good shape still.

Knight's castle. (I guess we don't have any pics of the outside.)

Train ride.

Morro Bay.

We went to feed the seals. CANNOT go to Morro Bay without feeding seals. This one is getting ready to jump.

Me, probably eating salt water taffy.

They give you little packets of chopped up raw fish to throw to the seals. So fun!

Avila Beach.

This is at the Mooney Grove museum and pioneer village in Visalia. They have an indoor museum and then a pioneer village in back of the museum. There are lots of original old buildings, like this old farmhouse. (Did they want to have a bald mannequin head in the second story window looking out? Probably not very historically accurate, but I thought it added a creepy vibe to the old house).

Notice the door up on the second floor. Can you figure out why there would be a door there?

There's a man-made pond in the center of the park, with turtles, frogs and ducks.

I guess one of the old oak trees fell over and destroyed one of the park structures. It's an old park! We had a good time especially swimming at Grandma's house - though we have no pictures of that.
