Doctor Carson Knight

Without regard for the drastic socialist movement in the medical field, Carson has launched his medical career -- mostly by chasing me with his toy needle and checking to see if my heart is still beating.

Look Ma': No Training Wheels!

Carson (with a little help from Dad), decided he was ready to try his bicycle without training wheels. He did pretty well, but in the end, the training wheels went back on his bicycle.

We'll have to try again next weekend.

Fleischmann Planetarium at UNR

Now that Carson is a school-boy, we decided to take him to UNR to show him what universities are.

We started with the Planetarium, which dissappointingly, had changed very little since I was a kid. But Carson enjoyed it. He even got to touch a meteorite.

Then as we started to explore the rest of campus, Carson tripped and scraped up his hand. Our tour ended a little abruptly; fortuntately, Carson felt that he would still be able to hold an ice cream cone, so we stopped at Baskin Robbin's on our way home!

Adventures at the Dentist

Carson went to the dentist for his first, and unfortunately, second time, all in the same week.

He had his initial checkup. The dentist said he had really deep grooves in the molars, so Carson returned to have his molars sealed with some sort of epoxy coating. Luckily, with our insurance, we only had to pay a $5 co-pay for each visit.

He was so good! He put up with everything without complaining, earning himself two cool monster truck toys (one for each visit).

Tucker's teeth are growing quickly. He has his six tooth coming in now!

Wild Animals

My Dad and I took a dirtbike ride out to the petroglyphs south of Lockwood. There was such a variety of wild animals...

We saw some beautiful wild horses (including four foals, each about two weeks old), a mule deer, marmots, canyon wrens, and lizards. We were dissappointed that we couldn't find any rattlesnakes -- despite our searching.

The petroglyphs are always neat to see; unfortunately, people feel that they need to create their own -- ruining the actual historical petroglyphs...

It was so nice to get out of the city for a while.

Exploring the Amazon

Our little explorers conquered the Amazon River, surviving waterfalls, crocodiles, and monsters in their homemade raft.

Tucker paddled with all his might while Carson fought off the monsters. It turned out to be a lot of fun.

A Bicycle Built for Two

With the sickness of the winter behind us (hopefully), we finally got out as a family and went to the Sparks Marina. We dusted off our bikes, (except for Carson, since his is brand new) and headed for what's now called "Celebration Lake". We like "Sparks Marina" better! The weather was nice, a little cool, but perfect for riding bikes. Carson did so well on the steep hills. There were lots of people out walking and rollerskating and riding bikes as well. We didn't hear a peep from Tucker the whole time - he seemed to be taking it all in and enjoying the scenery.

Tucker's Bicycle Seat

We mounted a seat for Tucker onto my bicycle so that we can ride as a family. Tucker loves it!

Monster Jam -- Monster Truck Rally

We won two free tickets to Monster Jam from Boulevard Pizza. So my Dad, Carson and I went. It was a blast.

Well, actually, at first it was a little annoying. Parking was $7, which my Dad was nice enough to pay. Then when the show started, it was SOOO loud. Carson and I were covering our ears and were very uncomfortable. After wandering around for a while, I found someone selling ear-plugs. They helped a ton! I felt a lot better knowing I wasn't deafening my son.

Carson had received a toy monster truck, El Toro Loco, for Christmas from his Great Aunt Brenda; so Carson was really excited while El Toro Loco was performing.

Those trucks are really amazing. They demolished a bunch of cars, landed huge jumps and did wheelies and other stunts. Pretty impressive.

In between the main events, they had some side events. There were fun ATV races. A demonstration of small remote controlled cars, which amazingly did the same jumps as the huge monster trucks. They also has a huge transformer show. Two cars drove out, then transformed into huge creatures which then fought. Luckily, the 'good' transformer saved the city of Reno from the 'bad' transformer.

It was a fun night. Thanks Boulevard Pizza and thanks for coming Dad.

Boulevard Pizza Promotion -- Free Monster Jam Tickers

Boulevard Pizza makes some of the best pizza in Sparks. So when they sent an email (yes, we are on their email list) about their newest promotion, free Monster Jam tickets, we were pretty excited. The first twelve people to redeem coupons would be awarded tickets.

We had thought about buying tickets to the show, but $18 per person was more than we wanted to spend. So now, all we had to do was buy some delicious food and the tickets would be free. Angela and the kids ate lunch there, then we all ate dinner there. We ended up getting two free tickets.

Thanks Boulevard Pizza!

My New Trek Bike

Carson got a new bike, courtesy of Grandma Bea and Grandpa Gene, thank you! It's a Trek bike, and Carson loves it. We went to Scheel's yesterday to get it, and as soon as we came home, Carson was out riding it all afternoon. We are so glad he has a bike that fits him now.
